Cape Town sits on one of the most southernly points of South Africa and is hemmed with beautiful harbours and white sandy beaches. Cape Town has a mix of African and European influences derived from the Dutch settlements that established Cape Town as a stop for trading ships between Europe and the Far East. Table Mountain towers over Cape Town forming it into a beautiful picturesque city. The town is buzzing and vibrant with life and has countless shops and eateries along the waterfront.
Bantry Bay, Camps Bay and Seapoint offer coved sandy beaches ideal for a spot of sun-bathing! They are considered by many as some of the most natural and beautiful beaches in the world. They are also perfect for surfing and beach games!
Venturing into Table Mountain is a must for visitors to the city; a five minute cable ride will take you to the summit. There are eleven separate views points to digest the amazing scenery; but make sure you are wearing sensible shoes as there are numerous walking and hiking paths to choose from. The mountain has 1500 different species of plant.
The Infamous Robben Island is where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated; it's a half-hour boat trip and is recommended to discover and emphathise with the story that Robben Island tells. The prison is now a museum and a guided tour is presented by an ex-inmate.
Cape Point is along the coastal road and is actually the most southernly point of South Africa. Cape Point is attached to Table Mountain National Park. The lookout point offers a panoramic view of False Bay. This part of the peninsula is also known as 'The Cape of Good Hope'. If your lucky you might spot the odd whale or dolphin!

Cape Town has a diverse cuisine from fine dining to small eateries. Head to Mama Africa if you want to try a true African taste such as crocodile and ostrich. The Victoria and Alfred Waterfront (V and A Waterfront) has many restaurants and eateries including 'Hard Rock Cafe', 'Planet Hollywood' amongst others.
South Africa produces some excellent wines particularly from the local vineyards so find a seat with a nice view and raise a toast!
